NH State Representative Rescinds DeSantis Endorsement, Announces Support for Trump

A New Hampshire state representative has rescinded her endorsement of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in the race for the Republican presidential nomination and now supports former President Donald Trump.

State Rep. Sandra Panek (R) announced her decision to switch her support on Thursday following DeSantis’s campaign launch on Wednesday.

“After being less than impressed with Ron DeSantis’s official announcement last night, I am hereby switching my endorsement to President Donald J. Trump,” Panek said in a press release email from the Trump campaign. “We can’t expect someone to run the country if they can’t properly run their own campaign launch.”

“The stakes are simply too great in 2024 to take a chance on someone as unreliable as DeSantis — we need a proven winner like President Trump to take back the White House and Make America Great Again!” Panek added.

Her change of support follows New Hampshire State Rep Juliet Harvey-Bolia’s (R) decision on Wednesday to back Trump for the nomination after the pro-DeSantis super PAC, Never Back Down, claimed that she endorsed the Florida governor earlier this month. After the announcement was made, Harvey-Bolia clarified, “I’m endorsing both” Trump and DeSantis.

She is now endorsing only Trump:

Kinda makes your endorsement a big nothing.

That's certainly the way it worked out for Ronny D.

Game changer. I’m sure Trump is relieved to finally have her endorsement. /s

So, she dumped DeSantis for the problems of Twitter? Wow. Is this woman married?

But I will say, watching which way these wishy-washy, weak-kneed Republicans are leaning on a given day, is probably a good barometer of which way the winds are blowing. DeSantis’s launch was less than impressive, and it has exposed vulnerabilities to his candidacy that politicians and the public alike, are responding to.

Of course it was. You must have missed the part where this happened:

The only endorsement Trump needs.

That has some of that creepy Obama with a halo stuff vibe that was all over the place back in the day.

“ The only endorsement Trump needs.”

Nut job territory.
And blasphemous .

This is one of a collection of Trump-centered tchotchkes floating around online websites. They have the unadorned charm of Soviet-era socialist realist art.

Yikes.
Not my job to judge (which I actually did in my previous post!).
But that kind of thing isn’t healthy.

It might be completely tongue in cheek. You never know. Brings to mind an old Jeff Goldblum comedy where a guy paid to pose as Jesus for devotional paintings gets to thinking he really is the Messiah. A little off-kilter, but hilarious and blasphemous at the same time. The Favor, the Watch and the Very Big Fish, with Bob Hoskins and the late Natasha Richardson. (Natasha because mom Vanessa Redgrave is Red through and through).

Is it blasphemy to make fun of Trump? I suspect Trump doesn’t literally think he’s God, so it’s debatable whether he’d take umbrage.

“ Is it blasphemy to make fun of Trump? ”

There people who literally believe that image and feel he’s some special servant of God

It’s blasphemous to use an image of Jesus irreverently!

Endorsements.

They mean much more for the ENDORSER than the endorsed.

Whoever this Sandra Panek is could care less about Trump or Ron.

The switch was all about her.

Evidently spending a little time on the dark side, gave her buyer’s remorse or cold feet or second thoughts or whatever determined why she changed a decision that is fairly significant for a state representative in a fairly Republican state.

It’s not just a story about endorsements. It’s the aftermath of Desaster.
