Fox News ridiculed Ron DeSantis’ chaotic Twitter-based 2024 presidential campaign launch on Wednesday after analysts suggested that Elon Musk’s social network could be the new Fox News.
Following DeSantis’ Twitter Spaces event — which was plagued with technical difficulties, prohibiting many people from listening in to the Florida governor’s presidential campaign launch — FoxNews.com led with the tag, “AMATEUR HOUR” and the headline, “Much-hyped presidential announcement a disaster for Twitter due to tech issues.”
Fox News then rubbed it in with the breaking news notification, “PROGRAMMING ALERT: Want to actually see and hear Ron DeSantis? Tune into Fox News at 8 p.m. ET.”
Fox News Trey Gowdy also took a jab at Twitter during his interview with DeSantis following the Twitter Spaces event.
“I can’t promise you that I won’t crash, but Fox News will not crash during this interview,” Gowdy joked.
Ousted Fox News host Tucker Carlson announced this month that he would move his show to Twitter after the views on one of his videos on the platform wildly surpassed the viewers of his previous 8 pm Fox News time slot.
The announcement — along with Musk’s attempts to move Twitter more toward video — prompted some analysts to predict that the social network could become the new Fox News.
On Wednesday — ahead of DeSantis’ Twitter event and in the wake of the news that Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire would also start publishing its podcasts to Twitter — Axios claimed that Musk had “displaced Rupert Murdoch and Fox News as the king of conservative media in recent weeks.”
Others made similar claims, with Business Insider arguing that Twitter was “starting to morph into a version of Fox News.”
However, the poor technical performance of DeSantis’ live event on Wednesday suggested that the platform may not be capable of replacing cable news just yet.
DeSantis’ Twitter Space, which reached more than 500,000 viewers at its peak, crashed and glitched out with just a few hundred thousand users listening in — a far cry from the millions of viewers who tune into Fox News and MSNBC on a daily basis with, for the most part, very little issue.
Twitter’s inability to host the live event without problems, as well as DeSantis’ decision to entrust his launch to a platform that isn’t exactly known for its live video capabilities, resulted in ridicule from both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. It also led to the hashtag ‘#DeSaster’ becoming one of the top trending topics on Musk’s social network.
Fox News is officially part of the Unimedia.
I suspect foul play....................
THEY are laughing at someone else, ignoring the dissolution of their own ratings post-Carlson?
Being in tech for about 40 years, i don’t really care how badly it started out. The interview went great. My cell phone doesn’t work all the time as well. and comcast craps out every once in a while. The pony express wasn’t that reliable either as the indians killed a bunch of carriers.
I thought Fox had gone RINO and was pushing DeSantis.
I wish you Trump cultists could stop contradicting yourselves like leftists.
and i guess they aren’t counting the radio stations that carried the twit. Here local i think they have a few hundred thousand.
Looser gets a hair cut
Gowdy let DeSantis "read" his answers and comments, fake fake fake.
too many viewers,,,,
Not particularly.
I don’t think you get that this wasn’t a big deal. The country didn’t stop waiting for Desanctimonius to announce on Twitter. I follow politics (too closely) and I don’t know how to find the video. I’m not going tobset up a Twitter account for this. The meme will probably be more recognizable that the actual speech in a few days (probably already is). Who even cares about the content at this point (it’s 2023, better try to understand that). Yea yea yea, you’ll fire some guy and say you don’t like “woke”. So much more “inclusive “ than Trump. A moderates dream...Deep state in action indeed
You are an amazing mind-reader, inferring everyone's motivations from 100 miles away and never meeting them.
You are a legend in your own mind.
You said Fox was pushing DeSantis. If that was true, they would not run this story.
Now you have egg on your face and your credibility is laughable.
They ran with this story initially for a short while. Then made the headline about Trump’s “bizarre” reaction. Yes, FoxNews.com is still in the tank for DeSantis.
‘I see I am debating with a child.’
shouldn’t be too difficult to respond to him, then, should it...?
The term “controlled” opposition has come into usage to describe Fox News which is the main propaganda organ of the Evil Media Empire of Aussie born globalist billionaire Rupert Murdoch.
I don’t think the term is fair.
I don’t see the “opposition” part.
What Fox News has become over time, is the straw man, the boogey man, or the whipping boy of the true believing Marxist Democrats.
And hence, there are patriots who saw our Marxist enemy attacking Fox News and who with good intention defended Fox News.
Sadly there are still good folk defending Fox News even after its true anti-nationalist leanings were fully revealed when Murdoch and his boy Paul Ryan fired Tucker Carlson.
The history is clear.
Fox News tried as hard as it could during the first Republican primary debate of 2015 to take down the nationalist Trump and founder of the America First movement before his campaign could take hold.
Review the tapes.
It was an ambush not just by Me-again Kelly, but the Little Fella, Bret Baier, and Mike Wallace’s dolt son.
Some take the charitable view and feel Fox News was on Trump’s side and only turned on him when they made the early call on Arizona in the 2020 steal.
That take is not an accurate take.
Fox News used Trump just as Trump used Fox News.
There was NEVER any real love between the two.
It is now understood that Trump’s supporters are no longer the majority of Fox’s greatly diminished audience after the Tucker Carlson firing.
Don’t be fooled.
Both FNC and the “new” Twitter folk would like you to believe they are in “competition”.
They are no more in “competition” than there are two distinct political parties in mighty opposition.
Follow the money.
Musk and Murdoch are backing the same boy.
Billionaires who own big media are nearly an elite unto themselves.
If you know your Shakespeare, then you see Musk as Puck.
He enjoys stirring the pot for his own amusement.
He believes in nothing greater than himself.
Musk is just playing.
Musk can never be trusted.
He did Our Republic a solid by EXPOSING that Twitter before he bought it was nothing but a Deep State tool.
But don’t let that ONE good work cloud your judgment.
If Musk follows through and donates the 24 million to the Deep State front man as he has publicly indicated that he was going to, then the “New” Twitter is the “Old” Twitter with some new faces.
Don’t ever hitch your wagon to the Twitter starship of Elon Musk, who is no more than a modern day Puck.
There has not been two distinct parties in mighty opposition for a very long time.
The media marketplace was never really free and open marketplace either in economically or intellectually.
There is only one party in America which is the Uniparty.
The is only one media entity in America which is Elite Stream Media.
Both the Uniparty and Elite Stream Media are united in their hatred of Trump and will do anything to take him down.
Why do the hate Trump?
He is a nationalist and TRULY believes in putting America first which means among many things having a country with BORDERS.
This little ‘feud’ between Fox News and Twitter is nothing more than a little show for the sheeple’s amusement.
It’s all for show, they are on the same team.
