Exactly. I was born in Chicago and lived my youth there. People in that city are proud and are perplexed how outsiders view their city as a declining dumpster fire.

I moved to Chicago 32 years ago. I saw it improve in the 90's, falter after the 2008 recession, and go downhill from there. The 2020 riots and Illinois' strict lockdown destroyed enormous swathes of businesses and downtown especially has never recovered. On top of that, Cook County's Soros prosecutors have been so easy on violent criminals that I now see more white faces in mugshots because white criminals are coming into the city from the suburbs to steal. With the exception of some busses during the day, public transportation is so unsafe and unreliable my wife and I refuse to use it.

If they drive the CME and other businesses out of the city, Chicago will become Detroit with a better lake view.

I work with a guy who is from Chicongo. He has not been there in 30+ years and will never go back. Not even to fly into. Said he couldn’t leave fast enough.
