But that is NOTHING in my book.
Scar was the intended effect of that vaccine. The side effect rashes were much worse reportedly, notably more common in patients with atopic dermatitis and much mentioned in my Derm training days. They were supposed to be similar to the severe reactions some such patients got from herpes simplex, which .I have seen. Impressively sick kids and tough to treat before acyclovir arrived. I was pleasantly surprised, but puzzled, when the new smallpox vaccine didn’t seem to have the same problem. Not that that unwanted inflammation of heart rather than skin is a great trade.
