Did Ted Cruz hurt Trump in the general?
Trump, the likely GOP nominee, needs to have his feet held to the fire. He needs to answer for some of his egregious lapses in judgment during his last term. He needs to sell his case not to the MAGA faithful, but to everyone else.
This is why there needs to be a robust primary.
Trump still needs to earn it, if for no other reason than to be better prepared for the general election.
And it won't hurt DeSantis to get a primary campaign under his belt. Trump isn't going to live forever.
I agree that DeSantis is a good Governor. He is taking advice from the wrong people. Same thing happened to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Great governor but poor presidential candidate. Tossed his hat in the presidential ring (thanks to the Koch brothers) and ruined his political career going forward. Definitely not good news for the people of Florida.

My guess is he’s being promised the Moon doWn the road by the Paul Ryno crowd if he’ll try to mess up Trump this year. They are so desperate they will try anything.

BS. The Federal Govt. is a construct of the states, not vice versa. States have the right to leave the “union” anytime. The words “Form a more perfect union” was changes from the orignal draft “Form a perpetual union” for a reason.
Good old Andy Jackson, one of Trump’s biggest hero’s: Disunion by armed force is Treason. The UNION is older than the Constitution, it goes back to July.4th, 1776. And it was Deceleration that all the States approved to form a NATION.
Trump faced a Herculean task when he went into Washington as an outsider in 2016. He had no choice but to rely heavily on republican insiders. Not only that, he had to “play ball” with the Mitch McConnell’s of the world. As all of us, Trump learned very quickly the snakepit was more viperous than anyone grasped.
I highly doubt that will happen a second time and in fact, think Trump’s experiences will pay dividends for those who desire real change. At this point he knows who can be trusted and it doesn’t look like those surrounding R.D. are on that team. Be careful what you wish for. And, R.D. should be careful, too. I think he can have potential down the road, just not now with the people to whom he’ll be obligated.
