Have never encountered that problem with the many Cannon Ink Jet printers I have owned.
I only ever owned one Canon product, an ink-jet printer, and I will never own another.
First, it died after a few days. The store wouldn’t take it back and told me to contact Canon. They said I would have to haul it down to their location in center city Philadelphia.
I tore it apart and found an internal cable not firmly plugged in. That fixed the immediate problem, but then I discovered the ink evaporated quickly while the printer sat unused. It was probably designed to do that.
The store eventually and deservedly collapsed (Comp USA). The printer eventually went in the trash.
Apart from the ink issue, HP ink-jets were generally fine, but I didn’t like the fact that even if the black cartridge had ink in it, the printer wouldn’t print in black if a color cartridge was empty.
I will never again buy anything made by Canon, and I doubt I will ever buy another ink-jet.
