What they are doing is very clever. Compress and superheat deuterium into a plasma in two magnetic bottles and then eject both at accelerator-like speeds to smash into each other inside a central magnetic chamber which further compresses then to get more reactions and eject the even more superheated plasma out the side to convert charged plasma directly into electricity. Basically plasma --> fusion --> more plasma --> electricity.

Wonder if it could be modified so the ejection forms a propulsion system.
