Former President Trump on Monday threw his weight behind a bipartisan railway safety package that aims to prevent similar disasters to the February train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
The bill, spearheaded by Ohio Sens. JD Vance (R) and Sherrod Brown (D), would include new safety requirements for trains carrying hazardous material. The legislative push comes months after the derailment of a Norfolk Southern train that was carrying toxic chemicals through the eastern Ohio town.

And yet, no one speaks of the damage done to the industry by Mantle Ridge and it’s former enforcer, Hunter Harrison. IMHO, all of this can be traced back to the policies of Harrison.
Sherrod Brown is a guaranteed bobblehead for the (D) Senate votes; nothing more.
He does NOTHING other than nodding in agreement to ALL Dem. orders, and is (like all of them), mere placeholders for the New World Order.
This bill is mostly a nightmare. It does have the support of Mitt Romney, which might tell you more about the bill.
It requires 2 people on a train, which is actually pretty normal for now, but will cut off development of new technology that would eliminate one person.
It requires hot boxes, which will cost millions of dollars, and will cut off development of on-train bearing failure detectors that would be much better.
It puts new regulations ONLY on trains, which will push hazardous materials over to trucks, which is more dangerous for everybody.
It put new requirements on railway companies to be responsible and liable for faulty equipment, even when (as is often the case) the rail cars are owned by the shippers, not the railway.
It is pretty much everything the Democrats wanted. I don’t have a clue why JD Vance is supporting it other than the accident was in Ohio, or why Trump has decided to endorse a bill whose subtext is “Trump and the Republicans deregulated rails and caused this horrific accident”.
But when you are on the same side of an issue as Joe Biden, CHuck Schumer, Sherrod Brown, and Mitt Romney, you are probably not on the right side of the issue.
