If this guy was thrown out of the service for “mental illness”, how did he pass the NICS check when buying an AR15. Did he acquire his firearms legally?* Did the US military fail to report his discharge for mental problems to the BATF? If we are going to have these systems, the government itself had better hold up its end on reporting lunatics. They have failed before, and I bet they did again. What was Mauricio’s source of funding?
*Presumably he could have bought firearms legally in private party transactions. Then you get into how the seller came to have the firearms.
I don’t know if he was discharged for mental illness, for which he would be considered a disabled vet, or he was rejected before he joined. That info seems to a bit muddy.
