Not really. All of the reports on islands and such slipping beneath the water are because the island is unstable and sinks — like sinkholes on dry land.
There are a group of islands off the coast of India, I think Maldives, that are basically silt from rivers. This stuff sinks if you sneeze real hard.
If levels had actually gone up there would be records in that very area — which has been settled for ages. Also, the Obamas would not buy a beachfront palace if there was any chance of flooding anywhere in the world.
The technical term is “thixotropic.”
