I remember that first song on the radio when I was a kid. It scared some kids the first time, and then it became popular.

Life was much more fun back then.

In 1966 our kitchen had a big white GE transistor radio sitting on top of the big white GE refrigerator.   Dad was a computer programmer with General Electric and we were loyal to the brand.

AM radio was more popular than the TV back then.   Of course we still came home from school and watched Dark Shadows.   Who didn't?

That year, I would've been only a toddler. I guess, for some reason, we didn't hear the song until a few years after it was released. It scared a couple of kids I knew who first heard it on the radio as they were falling asleep. (lol) My dad was a programmer, too, and I also remember listening to AM as a kid, sitting on our front porch with a radio to my ear. Missing those days...

Remember these?
