Biden administration expected to announce plan to protect forests from fire, other climate change side affects

Forest Service Chief Randy Moore appeared this week before a U.S. Senate committee where he was pressured by lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to speed up thinning work on federal forests. The Biden administration identified over 175,000 square miles of old growth and mature forests on government lands. The administration plans to craft a rule to protect forests from fires, insects, and other effects of climate change. (AP Photo/Marcio Jose Sanchez, File) Moore faced pointed questioning from U.S. Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming, a Republican who warned the administration's conservation efforts could "lock Americans out of the public lands" by putting areas off-limits to timber harvests and other uses.

“If I’m elected, we’re going to cure cancer.”
— Joe Biden.

Joe just says stuff. No one takes him seriously.

We had a local lumber mill shut down for lack of logs from the local National Forest within the last year.

Yet I should be increasing the size of the clearing around my house to reduce wildfire risk.

The mill didn’t just shut down, it parted itself out.

No way to restart as there is only about 10% of it left.

They could start with better forest management in California.
But Biden and Newsom are sure to make it worse.

Clearly, forests are a use it or lose it resource, something environazis can not understand.

Prohibit the Forest Service from having matches, they ruined almost 400,000 acres of New Mexico last year with their “controlled” burns that ran away.

Around here the “Forest Service” WANTS the forests to burn. They want the ‘invasive’ trees to be replaced by ‘native’ grasses and cacti.

There’s too much land, too much forest and rangeland to make a big difference.

Keys are: controlled burns, permitted burns, better WUI management. Let nature do what it does. Manage by letting nature take it course.

It is far better for the federal government to protect these lands from the greedy rapine of the capitalist timber companies. So what if an occasional fire runs through and destroys the forest and any towns nearby, and the inhabitant thereof? You can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. (But you’d better learn how because we are coming after your eggs, too.) Close off these lands to protect them from invasive species like the snail darters and to save them for the spawning grounds of the coelho salmon!

I have ridden horseback in the Sierra Nevada since 1993.

We have reported bark beetle infestations to Forest Service personnel & they have scoffed at us.

When there ARE fires-—the ECO jerks refuse to let the downed trees be salvaged-—creating MORE bark Beetle infestations.

IIRC-—when the “Spotted Owl” fiasco was thrust upon us, over 110 lumber mills closed in Calif & Oregon .

The best way to prevent forest fires is to position millennials and Zeros in the forests holding up lighting rods.
