No, it isn’t silly, you have to learn how to use sources and collect information and use discernment to reach accurate conclusions.
you do realize you are using snopes as ‘proof’ of something on FR? Did you mean for this to be used on DU too? Your notes should have advised against appeals to authority based on trusted sources such as Newsweek, a twitter random, and snopes on FR.
maybe nudge brigade is tone-deaf, ‘surely everyone recognizes the integrity of snopes, even those neanderthal freepers...’
it shows that the poster in question has no grasp of something as obvious to any freeper as why using snopes as a basis for ANY claim is so odd and laughable as to only be done by an interloper, and that this poster is here for one reason only.

I think simple logical deductions can be made to get to the purpose.

Think what you want, as far as I (and likely most others here) your citation of Snopes as a source removed any credibility you may or may not have had
So you accept the story as authentic and think it really happened.
After finding the claim somewhere on the internet and evaluating whether it made sense in the first place and then looking at the detailed attempts to expose the internet story and its origins and flaws, in your mind, it is totally true.
So you have your opinion.
