Hope it works better than the pretend fingerprint recognition on my iPhone.
I never could get that feature to work as well.
And, what if someone needing his or her gun in an urgency has an injury to the hand? Sutures, scars, bug bite, bandages? Battery failures can happen. Dirt or scratches on the lens can happen. Might EMP be another concern?
Oh, and remember when there were cars that would not start unless the seatbelts were clicked shut? Lots of bad guys took advantage of drivers trying to get those to work IIRC.
My iPhone works fine...so long as it and my finger are clean. Be just my luck someone kicked in the door while I was eating pizza. These guns will cost more lives than they save.

Will the “smart gun” have a keypad to punch in a passcode when the fingerprint sensor doesn’t work?
That shouldn’t be a problem. All you have to do is ask the burglar or assailant to wait a moment while you punch in the code.
