Let’s be honest - some folks do not like Clearence Thomas due to his judicial philosophy and adherence to the Constitution. They are engaged in an effort to reshape the Court, by all means possible, including ginning up bogus claims against Justice Thomas and/or his wife. As Justice Antonin Scalia rather definitively put it a number of years ago - ethical rules applied to the top level of the judicial branch are rather pointless - who would review any decision made?
This is a deliberate attempt to try and intimidate Thomas, perhaps to get him to resign, and give Biden the opportunity to replace him. Not going to work. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse can f*** o**!

Yes, there likely is an ethical gift acceptance and ethics reporting violation, but there is such a thing as recusal so should a case involving his friend come before the Court I am confident Thomas would have recused himself from participating in the case.
Its foolish and irresponsible for Thomas (and Trump for that matter ) to ignore this reality.

And they're going to do it, mark my words. Thomas retiring, dying, (he ain't getting any younger), or being forcibly removed will give the Democrats five seats to fill. They'll get an 8/1/4 makeup.
