The End of Cheap Chinese Labor

Vid only (no pertinent text from author)

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Extended News; Foreign Affairs; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: cheap; china; economy; labor
There are many of these vids from various posters on on You Tube. This one caught my eye due to a large number of interesting comments by people all over the world, both regarding China and many other countries. Some of the most interesting concern the effect of rapid placement of robots and AI to replace labor by humans. Many other issues are addressed as well. That said, not much discussion covers the roles of liberty and responsibility when it comes to what remains of the human side of all this. There is a bit of trolling, but, in general the quality of the back and forth is good, IMO, and it is interesting to consider the various backgrounds as the arguments go back and forth.

Note that after watching the vid, one probably has to get at least several hundred comments "in" to get a good sampling of the viewpoints.

Have at it, All!

China has serious problems. The population problem described in the video is only one of them. The biggest is Communism.

The question isn’t IF China as a country will implode, it is how much damage they’ll cause to the rest of the world on their way down.

Much agreed -- China's turn to increased authoritarianism is very likely to be pretty masochistic as well.

They ARE making a huge effort with automation and AI in manufacturing, as discussed in the YT comments to the article, so maybe in the long run they won't actually have a shortage of workers. But, what sort of society emerges cold get very "interesting".

They have a big local gov't debt problem too. (In some ways like the US.)
