They’ve been available in LED for years. Ebay and Amazon are loaded with them.
The last time those idiots in D.C. got involved I stocked up plenty, as we use 100-watt bulbs for many things on the farm in winter, like keeping water from freezing and chicks warm.
Many of my reading lights are 75-watt as there is nothing easier on the eyes.
Guess I'll be grabbing every 60-watt I can find to bolster the stocks. Damn do I hate a democrat.
I’m not sure about the LED limitation business. I have a LED light in the hallway which has been there for about 8 years, and another on a lamp for six years. I will admit the cost is hefty.
Their cost has come down considerably recently...............
I convert my boats and trucks immediately, if they don’t already have LED’s. Much easier on the battery system, if you leave an anchor light on all night, etc.
LED’s are highly overrated. I’ve already burned out several of them in well less than a year.
If you read the fine print, they’re touted as lasting for “years,” but that’s with the stipulation of a limited 3 hours of use per day.
That doesn’t even make sense to the average person.
Just asking…
Have any of you looked at the fins /heat dissipation required with bright leds? They all generate a lot of heat, some almost the same as an incandescent.
It started with automobiles................
You need to buy dimmable LEDs and as you mentioned a special outlet that supports dimmable LEDs.
LED bulb manufacturers can easily incorporate tracking components within the relatively large body of the bulb base, monitoring usage and location. I’d be surprised if they aren’t already doing this.
Grocers have been doing it for over a decades.
Well, all I can say is at least LEDs are far better than incandescent and way way wayyy better than those awful CFLs
But this ‘mandate’ crap is nuts.
He is just jealous..and angry.. because his bulb is very dim.
what the actual hell! where does government get the power to ban edisons bulb!?!?!
Given free rein, there would be ban after ban.
These crazies do not believe in freedom for thee. And the constitution would be set aside. What made America Great would be gone!
Many of us still use an old fashioned 100 WATT bulb to keep the well house and chicken house warm in winter.
I guess frozen pipes will be the new norm from the government.
“When all of this crap started a few years ago I went on line to a Texas light bulb company and ordered CASES of incandescent bulbs in all watts, “
I am saving hundreds of dollars a year with LEDs. And I love the bright whites!
Pres. Bush severely limited incandescent bulbs but that restriction was removed a few years later after an outcry from citizens.
I remember when the edict was made, I went out and cleaned out stores, who where putting the incandescents on clearance. I probably have several cases of them still. :)
Yes, and LED uses less voltage than the equivalent incandescent bulb. So that voltage has to be dropped from 120 VAC to the LED’s useable DC voltage which is considerably less.
All that voltage dropped must be dissipated as heat...............
Preferring WTP live in the dark (MOLE PEOPLE/1956),
the Dick Tator will throw the perp into the darkest dungeon in DC.
