A radical leftist biochemist has been charged in connection with the May 2022 firebombing of anti-abortion group Wisconsin Family Action's office in Madison. Hridindu Sankar Roychowdhury, 29, was arrested at Boston Logan Airport on Tuesday as he prepared to board a one-way flight to Guatemala City.
During the incident in question, two Molotov cocktails were thrown into the office, and graffiti was spray-painted on the side of the building stating, "If abortions aren't safe then you aren't either." Far-left pro-abortion group Jane's Revenge took responsibility for the attack, claiming that it was "only a warning," and threatening to destroy the infrastructure of "medical imperialism."
According to the Department of Justice, Roychowdhury has been charged with one count of attempting to cause damage by means of fire or an explosive. Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olsen of the DOJ's National Security division explained that Roychowdhury allegedly "used an incendiary device in violation of federal law in connection with his efforts to terrorize and intimidate a private organization."
The attack took place in the early morning hours of May 8, 2022, but it wasn't until March 2023 that Roychowdhury was first identified as a suspect. Investigators followed Roychowdhury and took DNA samples from a fast-food container her discarded, then compared it with samples from the crime scene. They matched. Soon after that, he travelled from Madison to Portland, Maine, and from there on to Boston.
