Actually, I think they kind of do realize it, which only adds to the thrill. It makes them feel powerful.
It’s also a specific (and often even verbalized) rejection of Christianity in particular. Just today I saw a headline to the effect that “Christian parents’ rejection of her identity” were responsible for her actions.
Her “manifesto” apparently contained anti-Christian ravings, and her parents (with whom she was living) wouldn’t use her “pronouns” or treat her as a male when she was in their home.
Hmmm. That's interesting. I can see how that might be the case.
That said I don't think most trannies have a deep understanding of Christianity or God's laws to begin with.
It would be difficult to determine how much of their awareness is conscious and how much is visceral/innate.
I think your comment would be particularly applicable to what is going on inside many seminaries, where there is a large gay population. They would be extremely aware of God's law...and breaking it would be particularly exciting.
Similarly, the idea behind the highly sexualized stories of convent life has such an element of excitement.
