No such law. BTW I love DeSantis, he has done a great job for Florida. The reason he is running a Shadow Campaign is because he is waiting for the Florida Legislators to change the law this session.

Section 110.233(4)(a), F. S., provides in pertinent part that no employee in the career service shall:

“Hold, or be a candidate for, public or political office while in the employment of the state or take any active part in a political campaign while on duty or within any period of time during which he is expected to perform services for which he receives compensation from the state.

“Trump super PAC”

It is a lie by the way that it is a Trump Super PAC. It is someone that supported the Impeachment of Trump running the PAC. You will see this thread posted by Trump hating freepers a lot.

So, the Democrats and their ilk are doing a good job trying to divide conservatives. And I am not saying that Trump is not attacking DeSantis, that’s politics. But he is not to blame for this.

I see.. double standard, because if you did not like your governor you would demand he NOT run a shadow campaign…. According to Section 110…….

According to Jesus those who sit in the seat of Moses (lawgiver) are not held in high repute.. Party affiliation is not relevant.

How can there be no such law… then once the ‘legislature’ fixes the law Saint Desantis is golden? Seriously?

You left out the Section that is a subsection to which reads,

110.223(4) As an individual, each employee retains all rights and obligations of citizenship provided in the Constitution and laws of the state and the Constitution and laws of the United States. However, no employee in the career service shall:..”

You also left out this part of 110.223(4)(a), “However, when authorized by his or her agency head and approved by the department as involving no interest which conflicts or activity which interferes with his or her state employment, an employee in the career service may be a candidate for or hold local public office. The department shall prepare and make available to all affected personnel who make such request a definite set of rules and procedures consistent with the provisions herein.”

DeSantis is not an state employee he is a state official. The statute does make a distinction. If you read further on 110.233 (5) reads, “No state employee or official shall use any promise of reward or threat of loss to encourage or coerce any employee to support or contribute to any political issue, candidate, or party.” This shows that the previous subsection (4)(a) is not applicable to state officials else they would be included in that subsection.

I hate the thought of losing DeSantis and kind of hope he reserves running for president till 2028.

That law applies to state employees, not elected officials. Until Desantis declares as a candidate for another office, he is not obligated to relinquish his current office under the current law. He can legally explore the possibility of a run for president but if he files paperwork to run, under the current law he must then resign his current office. So regardless of what many here are claiming, Desantis is currently not in violation of any law.
