Donald Trump’s allies are stepping up their battle with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, formally accusing him of violating state ethics and election laws with his “shadow presidential campaign.”
Make America Great Again Inc. is filing a 15-page complaint Wednesday with the Florida Commission on Ethics, a draft of which was obtained exclusively by NBC News.
It asks the commission to probe whether pro-DeSantis super PACs, his "personally lucrative book tour" and a continued wave of state-level campaign contributions, among other things, "are unlawful because they serve his personal political objectives, are in furtherance of his personal financial gain at the expense of Florida taxpayers, and are intended to influence his official decision to resign from office."

It is hilarious (and sad) to watch Trump praise Democrats and attacks Republicans who haven’t even declared yet. Even more hilarious (and more sad) to watch FReepers defend these actions.
It’s real, but is smacks of desperation. Winners go out and beat their opponents, not complain to the referee that their opponents are somehow gaining an unfair advantage based on technicalities.

Will you name the democrats Trump has praised, and of course DeSantis will run, he is already campaigning — book tour, going to Iowa, vast organisation already set up, hundreds of millions of dollars ready to spend, etc. He has more campaign stops scheduled than Trump.
I think it was yesterday Trump praised the absolutely awful Charlie Christ. You don't pay attention to Trumps press releases? He literally loves Democrats these days!
Trump needs to stop this crap, he’s making a fool of himself. I voted for him twice and I’m not sure I can do a third time based on him constantly acting like a crybaby. He needs to shut up about people who haven’t even announced their candidacy and focus on what’s wrong with the dementia joe’s incompetent administration.
Putting aside the Trump vs. DeSantis angle on this, if this complaint is taken seriously, it would mean that pretty much every governor who runs for president has violated the rules. Every governor goes to other states on speaking tours to tout their states and policies. So do presidents and senators. Its just part of the way candidates test the waters and get ready to launch.
Trump didn’t file this. It was a PAC run by his supporters. By law, they can’t coordinate.
