A group of House Democrats is reviving an effort to give a pathway to citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants who are already in the U.S. by updating a nearly century-old registry to allow for their statuses to be adjusted.
Six Democrats this week reintroduced the Renewing Immigration Provisions of the Immigration Act of 1929. The bill would update a status adjustment process — commonly known as the registry — that allows for those in the country illegally before a certain date to have their status regularized.
The registry was last updated in 1986 and at that time allowed for illegal immigrants who had been in the country continuously since 1972 to have their status adjusted and obtain a green card, which in turn would allow them to apply for U.S. citizenship.
The Democrats introducing the bill — Reps. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., Norma Torres, D-Calif., Lou Correa, D-Calif., Grace Meng, D-NY, Adriano Espaillat, D-NY, and Jesús "Chuy" García, D-Ill. — said it would affect approximately eight million immigrants, a population greater than the state of Arizona. In a press release, the Democrats said that 148 local, regional and national organizations supported the measure.

Amnesty from what? (I’m following their present positions) What would they need amnesty for?
The Deplorables want a Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement bill, missing since 1986 ONE TIME amnesty. Since that amnesty was granted already, a second amnesty is off the table. What remains is the enforcement the Democrats have disallowed since then.
The List of Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, missing since 1986 goes like this -
1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural citizen parents = nat born citizen);
5) end work visas;
6) 40-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population);
7) Set up an illegal aliens’ victim restitution fund from tax on remittances. Use tax on remittances to replenish Social Security account.
Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport, and remove colonizadors from our welfare rolls
The last amnesty we had fueled a 20 year surge in illegal immigration. Illegal aliens flooded into California in the 80’s and 90’s turning the state into the 3rd world toilet that it now is.

It's all about laying the groundwork for 2024. The California Democrats are safe from blowback for introducing these bills, so that's where they come from.

I’ll give this to the ‘rats: they are _always_ on offense. Even when losing, they stay on offense. There’s a valuable lesson there that only Trump seems to understand.
