Is California going to allow full blown casinos around the
state now?

If so, I’d have to agree with your take on the silliness
of a bullet train to Vegas.

I don’t recall if I voted on that or not, but if I did, it
was a big no.

I like visiting Vegas every five years or so, but having
casinos around all the time? Nah...

Thanks for the mention.

Way past time to cut the losses - use the money for water storage and power
generation.

320% over budget and not one inch of track laid yet

What has all the money been spent on if not for construction?

As a tourist it seems what they need is a high speed option from San Diego to Los Angeles. Apparently it would take 8 hours from Anaheim to San Diego taking the bus. (using google maps)

Surprised? Not really.

The Numbers on the site I gave at the bottom:

More than 730 Small Businesses engaged in the high-speed rail project.
More than 8,900 jobs created
More than 460 disadvantaged workers dispatched to construction sites.
233 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises
85 Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises
159 Small Businesses located in disadvantaged communities
57% of project expenditures have taken place in disadvantaged communities

https://hsr.ca.gov/high-speed-rail-in-california/statewide/#:~:text=California%20high%2Dspeed%20rail%20will%20connect%20the%20mega%2Dregions%20of,preserve%20agricultural%20and%20protected%20lands.

Notice the word disadvantaged throughout the list. That will be untrained illegals. Hey, it’s California.

It’s working even better than planned. The sole purpose of this project is to transfer money from Washington to Sacramento.

That would be a very slow bus! Two hours would be a bit more like it. Problem for high-speed rail between SD and LA is the best places to put tracks have already been taken.

That’s the biggest problem with all of California’s high-speed rail dreams. Putting tracks where nobody thought to put them before means having to do strange and expensive things.

They are having terrible trouble doing what was thought to be the ‘easiest’ part of the SF/LA run. And once they get the Merced/Bakersfield segment completed, they’re not going to get much if an revenue from ridership between those two enticing destinations.

From what I’ve heard, the Cucamonga/Las Vegas run will be routed through the center median of I15, which is pretty wide since it is going through stinking desert pretty much all the way.

The state hopes it will get more federal aid.

Whoa! Who could have seen that one coming?

Maybe free tickets on the train ride will be the reparations.

171 miles for $35 billion is $200 million per mile, not $20 million.

The pylons for the elevated train tracks will make a good framework to build affordable housing for bums and illegals.

Huh. Billions of dollars to go from nowhere to nowhere - on a train that no one is going to ride.

If I need to get to San Francisco in a hurry, or just to visit, I'm going to fly.

Billions spent on “planning” (salary for bureaucrats), environmental impact reports, right of way land/building purchases and some viaducts/overpasses built near Fresno.

First leg of the train (if it's ever built) will be from Boon to Doggle:

HuH.

It will serve illegal aliens (subsidized) to get from field to field - and people visiting their relatives in the prison in Chowchilla.
