I paid for every penny of my Community College courses

I think this is a complete rip off of those who have been responsible & paid their debts.

When I first stepped on the Southwestern College campus in June 1973, I was headed to my microbiology class. It was just a few days after graduating from high school. Age 16. There were no extra fees for classes at that time. My only extra expense was buying my text book at the school bookstore. I also signed up for a judo class. It made for a fun Summer. The school first started charging by the number of units per semester in 1974. I was already at UCSD by the first week of January 1974.

My oldest son applied to Idaho State University in 2001 after we moved from San Diego to Pocatello. $2,000 per semester for in-state residents. Last Tuesday night, our server at Garcia's was sharing her current experiences at ISU. Her father is the same age as my oldest son would be had he not passed in 2012. She could easily be my grand daughter. As a move-in from Montana, she must pay out of state rates. $20,000 per semester. Ouch.

My family helped me with UCSD in 1974. Registration was $212/quarter. Parking permit $46/year. Books average $120/quarter. I sold back those I didn't wish to keep. That cut my book costs to about $70/quarter with the sell backs. I took 18 to 22 units/quarter (flat rate). Graduated in June 1976. The cost of school today is outrageous.
