Lawmakers in the state of Oregon are considering a bill that would provide homeless people with $1,000 a month with no strings attached.
Is there any wonder why so many people in Oregon are trying to secede to the state of Idaho?
If Oregon wants to become the homeless capital of the country, this is an excellent way to do it.
FOX News reports:
Oregon bill would pay homeless people $1,000 a month
The state of Oregon is weighing a bill to give homeless and low-income people $1,000 a month in universal basic income.
The Oregon legislature is considering a bill to establish a People’s Housing Assistance Fund Demonstration Program through the state’s Department of Human Services.
Oregon’s bill is the latest in blue states looking to give handouts to people in universal basic income (UBI) programs.
According to Bill Track 50, the legislation would “provide 12 monthly payments of $1,000 to individuals who are experiencing homelessness, are at risk of homelessness, are severely rent burdened or earn at or below 60 percent of area median income.”
The bill would require a study on who is receiving the money broken down among a few demographics, including race, veteran status and risk of domestic violence.
Additionally, the bill sunsets in January 2026.
The $1,000 payments can be used at recipients’ discretion, but supporters say it will be used toward rent and other living expenses.

Let’s face it - none of this money will take a single person off the streets. Instead: (1) spend on drugs (2) steal $ from fellow vagrants (3) buy a nicer sleeping bag and tent, and maybe some air jordans (no doubt Nike is a big supporter here in its backyard)

I don’t have a home in OR (I live in CO) so technically I qualify.
It will be quite a sight to see all of the Oregon politicians pooping money to finance this one.

Saddest idea I’ve heard, regarding these folks.
Don’t rehabilitate....just exacerbate the problem.

Do-gooders don’t realize that they are actually going to be helping a number of these people to commit suicide. Accidental suicide, but suicide nonetheless.
I have a psycho alcoholic sister-in-law who for a period of time was doing everything in her power to ruin my life. At one point I semi seriously said to my wife that I was considering having a couple of cases of vodka left on her front doorstep so she could drink herself to death. Which would have probably happened.
Fortunately she got divorced and left town, which solved my problem.

Many Cities have these programs, some are pilot programs.
They can only be financed because of all the Federal money dumped on the cities. They constantly enable the crazy, wine giveaways.
Every time they want the big spending bills, the GOP signs off on the money dump to the Dem Cities, usually to get a New FBi building in return or many Billions for Ukraine.

This realist believes that 100% of it will go toward drugs.
Not one single street beggar will stop begging, and not one hooker will stop plying her trade.
I think the left knows most of the money will be spent on addictions and will make the state of most recipients worse. This takes money from productive people and gives it to unproductive people to spend on unhealthy, anti-social habits and this further undermines society. The left sees this as a win-win.
This illustrates the “best” part about leftist scum: If you’re someone who contributes nothing to society except crime, filth, incompetence and criminality you’ll be rewarded. But if you’re productive and keep your nose clean you’ll be taxed to death and harassed, especially if you publicly disagree with crazy, perverse and dangerous leftist agendas like this one. Ugh.
