Well, Vallas was running the CPS in the 90s, so he’s from a generation before “woke” was really a thing. Still a leftie, but at least a bit more practical of a leftie.
Paul Vallas actually straightend out Chicago Public Schools, left it with a $1B budget surplus which his successor, Arnie Duncan quickly squandered.
Arnie Duncan was then Obama’s Education Secretary and did to the schools nationwide,the damage he did to Chicago.
While I don’t believe Chicago can be “saved” the least bad candidate in this race happens to be Paul Vallas. That is NOT to be misconstrued as an endorsement of him, just an acknowledgement of the facts as I know them to be.
