Reagan would have helped rebuild the Russian economy, instead of exploiting it, as his successors did.

“Reagan would have helped rebuild the Russian economy, instead of exploiting it, as his successors did.”

The problem is that Russia is populated by too many people who see brutality and corruption as a way of life. All the help in the world cannot make the Russians disabuse themselves of their love of strongmen and their admiration of thuggish behavior.

They have to make those changes on their own.

That was the model, bro.

Get ‘em a taste of the good life and MTV, get their cities as shiny and fun as ours can be, get their politicians nice and buyable and moderate like ours and stop worrying about them nuking us... It worked OK, but a Marshall Plan for the ex-USSR would have been a GREAT investment.

Exactly—and Russia would be our ally—since we wouldn’t be trying to cram an agenda of perversion down their throats.

The Democrats have made most of the world our enemy—just because the Democrats are arrogant jerks.
