Train derailment reported in Torrance County

New Mexico State Police are on scene of a train derailment on U.S. Highway 60 between the communities of Vaughn and Willard.

State police say a 1 car of a 26 car train derailed near mile marker 231 on the tracks.

There were no injuries reported and hazmat is not involved in the investigation.

If my memory is correct, Lord Buttigieg said he lost his “train of thought” in East Palistine and First Lord Joe 81millionvotes Biden’s train ran off the rails about 2015. (give or take a few decades)

Derailment does not equal “wreck”. It is literally going off rails. Can be very minor.

Many of them happen so I’m not real impressed seeing the news focus on them.

IIRC, several years ago environmentalist were threatening to cause train derailments in the northwest to stop coal shipments. They created a device they would put on the tracks, kind of like a wedge, to try to force the derailment. I know they found the devices, I don't remember any major derailments, but not for lack of trying. Perhaps they have improved their methods.
