My home town in Connecticut has a large population of people descended from Polish immigrants, including myself. Yeah, there were some Kowalskis, but MOST of the names did not end in "-ski". Names like Swidock, Rzasja, Holuba, Coolac, etc. Plenty Polish, no "-ski".

The most famous Pole of all was born Karol Wojtyla.
