I am old enough to remember when the war in Iraq was sold as preventing Iranian influence in the region!

And we all know what a bulwark of countervailing influence Iraq now is to Iran.

The majority of people in Iraq are Shiite. Iran is all Shiite. Until we invaded in 2003, the Shiites in Iraq were kept in check by Saddam, who was not a Shiite.

Then, in the BRILLIANT MINDS of the ‘Nation Builders’ at the the State Department, we DEMANDED majority rule in Iraq.

...so the Shiites won in Iraq and we cannot understand why they’re friends with Iran.
