What a pathetic clown operation. Or is it? It’s either gross incompetence at tracking the debris as it fell to earth or they did recover it and the debris was embarrassingly some sort of commercial or scientific balloon.
Looks like the diversity idiots in the DoD really did shoot down a $12 balloon launched by a group of children.

Take a peek at a photo of the terrain. Next imagine a significant explosive charge designed to break a very tough jet fighter into bits. Factor in a 4oz Arduino payload blown into dust. Go find it.
One was alleged to be. There is no proof that any of these three ever existed. Hell, I could go outside and claim I shot down a chinese spy balloon with my bow. I can produce as much evidence as the government has.

I’m not buying that explanation. Having worked in weapons flight test and evaluation for 28 years finding debris and wreckage to do an assessment is fairly easy. For these guys to find nothing is BS. They know the altitude, approximate size, wind directions etc. They have a damn good idea where any wreckage would be found. Not saying what it is (UFO/UAP or a simple balloon or drone) when they found it is a different story.
The smart thing to do would be provide the cockpit video of the shoot down... the clear, unedited version.
Other than the balloon itself I wonder how much of anything was recovered from the real Chinese spy balloon? I would expect the spy gondola was equipped to self destruct and there is little left. The Biden Administration had another policy fiasco and taking out a few hobbyist balloons was just a ruse to cover up the big failure.
All of it. The pilot who shot it down said the payload deployed its own parachute.
