Despite President Joe Biden’s claims that inflation is going down, American households did not get any relief in the grocery store aisles.
The price of food at home jumped 0.5 percent compared with the previous month. Over the past 12 months, grocery prices have gone up 10.1 percent.
Some of the biggest increases in food include:
Eggs up 8.5 percent from December and 70.1 percent compared with a year ago. Dairy up 0.2 percent from December and 14.0 percent compared with a year ago. Cereals up 1.2 percent from December and 15.6 percent compared with a year ago. Cookies up 1.7 percent from December and 16.3 percent compared with a year ago. Poultry up 0.7 percent from December and 8.1 percent compared with a year ago. Frozen Fruits and Veggies up 0.6 percent from December and 12.8 percent compared with a year ago. Coffee up 1.7 percent from December and 12.6 percent compared with a year ago. Margarine up 1.2 percent from December and 44.7 percent compared with a year ago. Condiments up 2.0 percent from December and 11.7 percent compared with a year ago. Sauces up 1.9 percent from January and 14.3 percent compared with a year ago.

I bought a few staples at the grocery store last night and am numb now to the higher prices.

Fig newtons were a dollar. I just saw them for 4. Crazy if they think I’m buying that.
every time you pay some outrageous price for ANYTHING, you should thank a liberal for their response to covid and remember that you weren’t “essential” to them.
Cause is high fuel prices… witch also causes high fertilizer prices
disruption of the supply chains caused by covid restrictions forced on us by liberals.
50lb bag of chicken feed is $20-$25, was $12-$17, but hey it was warm yesterday so we got 6 eggs. Soon we will be back to 12 a day
At least coffee is still available.
If anything ever happened to the coffee supply chain, it would bring this country to it’s knees faster than anything I can think of.
Except maybe chocolate.
I’m glad I am not a coffee person. Never cared for the stuff.
Eggs in our part of N. Cali. came back down last week to $5 a doz for house brand grade A large brown.
Our coffee beans were on sale.
We don’t buy nor eat cereal.
My wife commented that last week our total was back to about 100 $’s, +or- $10.. It had gone up to about $130/140.
We buy a lot of fresh produce/meats and those prices were down last week.
One of the clerks said that Super Bowl Buying with the exception of beer, pizza and chips had decreased that day.
Apparently, their management in Sacramento can increase or decrease the price of shelf items based on demand/trends at the cash registers and with clerks using portable scanning device checking on inventory levels on the stores’s shelves or warehouse.
How long does that bag last you?
It is really tough on senior citizens.
The lousy Soc. Security raise they gave us this year cannot begin to help with the inflationary spiral.
Meanwhile the welfare people still load up their grocery carts with the most expensive groceries, compliments of the hardworking taxpayers.
This is Social Justice?

wholesale egg prices just crashed down to $2 a dozen.
Unfortunately it will take a while for retail prices to fall.
$13+ for breakfast at McDonald’s for one.
My 6.99 coffee is 10.99. My 1.29 eggs are 4.99.
Funny, I was just at the grocery store and everyone was fine.
