Why didn't they invite him, knowing that he would not take this lightly and that it would cause dissension?

So, they lock him out cause they're afraid of his ideas? Do they realize he's the only one who has declared his candidacy for president?

It's like "deja vu all over again" with a long list of losers, party hacks, and Trump coat-tailers running against him. Are we going to see Bsh and Romney in there too? Is Nikki Haley even eligible to run?

It's not going to be easy this time around for Trump. My prediction is that his followers, (many still here BTW), will rally around him as he disposes of each candidate, but I personally hate this infighting.

Unless he and De Santis have cooked something up between them, to run eventually as a team, this is not good.

IMO, Trump is the only one who can turn things around here and abroad. Let's cut through his abrasiveness, he still speaks for a lot of us in this country. I don't want a "nice guy" as president, (although it wouldn't hurt now and then for him to be nice now and then.)

Isn’t Club for Growth a typical globalist Americans-Last group?

At least that’s what I thought they are.

Seems like they’d like Jeb! and W.

I hope there is a massive decrease in donations after this, and every other organization finally gets a clue.

I agree with you except let’s all stop with the ‘qualifiers’ when speaking about Trump.

The only people that hated his ‘mean tweets’ were the Democrats and their media propagandists.

I loved it. I found it refreshing and was grateful for a candidate who finally spoke up to them. There was not one single ‘mean tweet’ that was not deserved.

And they were all rather polite, comparatively speaking, to the vile filth you hear coming from Democrats.

All that does is empower those who say “maybe we should pick someone who does not post mean things”.

They didn’t invite him because they knew one of two things would happen:

1. He would publicly decline the invitation in humiliating fashion.

2. He would show up and openly criticize them … again, in humiliating fashion.

It's not going to be easy this time around for Trump.

You call 2016 'easy?' With the entire MSM against him saying "he has no path to victory," and the Irish Bookie Paddy Power paying off bets on Hillary Clinton early because she was "such a shoo-in?"

No 2016 wasn't easy, 2020 the Democrats learned how much they had to cheat to overcome Trump's votes, and 2024 will be even harder.

pretty sound, but their pop-up positions on education and free trade are unrealistic

Education is not something stuffed into brains but gathered and built up by the hard work of both teachers and their students.

It is expensive living in the USA, far more expensive than say Vietnam. There is no level economic playing field, so trade has to be placed under a system of economic balance.

Government funny money is used to support an unbalanced economic arrangement with huge trade deficits and American cities unnaturally deprived of manufacturing jobs.

China would rather let Chinese die than spend $20/older adult on a western COVID vaccine.

“Students should be free to attend a safe and effective school rather than being assigned to a chronically underperforming school.”

https://www.clubforgrowth.org/issue/education/

Are those schools underperforming, or are their students underperforming?

Point out the underperforming teachers please!

All of our teachers are good.

What’s wrong with the building? Many high-earning Jewish doctors and lawyers learned in it.

It doesn’t look like a prison like the white kiddies have.

They didn't invite him because he's toxic, has a big mouth and says stupid things, and has been attacking other Republicans.

Why bring that into your house?

quotes from:
https://www.clubforgrowth.org/issue/free-trade/

“Ensure that the costs of physically moving goods into, out of, and around the United States are not unduly burdensome.”

Sounds nice, but it would mean truck drivers might be Vietnamese working for the minimum wage (or if the minimum wage is killed off, for what a construction worker in the Third World makes).

“Encourage Congress and the President to promote all of the benefits of trade, including the tremendous value that imports have, rather than continue the mercantilist-Keynesian rhetoric that ‘exports are good and imports are bad.’”

Our continued massive trade deficits are only possible through Federal Reserve funny money creation. They are not economically natural.

“Permanently terminate all trade-distorting export subsidy programs like the Ex-Im Bank and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).”

“Eliminate all agricultural subsidies like direct payments, crop insurance, and quotas.”

These may be out of hand, but if a US farmer has to pay labor $7.25/hour at a minimum and a Third World farmer $5/day, the US farmer does not have a level playing field.

Quotes from:
https://www.clubforgrowth.org/issue/entitlements/

“Repeal Obamacare.”

That is not likely to happen.

If high drug prices are allowed under the force of a government patent system, then some government means paying for them is necessary so lower income Americans don’t die because of a government patent.

If high hospital prices are the result of the force of a government EMTALA law, then some government means paying for them is necessary so lower income Americans don’t die because of a government EMTALA law.

“Enact Medicare reform that utilizes a premium-support function to replace the current system.”

Basically that’s a PPACA for the 65+ set.

“Block-grant Medicaid to the states.”

That’s a good idea provided that states have the freedom to make rational choices, say by setting maximum payments for drugs and limiting what medical care procedures get paid for and the amounts and percentages the state legislature chooses to allow for such procedures.

“Create Social Security personal retirement accounts that workers would own and could use to build nest eggs for retirement.”

Social Security was created after the stock market and banks failed in the early 1930s.

Maybe instead of having a person save $500,000 to pay $300,000 in school taxes and $200,000 in living expenses, perhaps school taxation should not be allowed on the residences solely occupied by people over age 65.

“The U.S. tort system costs our economy billions of dollars each year...encouraging the harmful practice of ‘defensive medicine,’ and raising the costs of obtaining quality healthcare for everyone.”

The problem with defensive medicine is actually in the medical consumer price setting systems. Test C may be of marginal value and maybe the insurer should pay say 50% of its cost and the patient 50% as well. Test A might be of great value and the insurer might choose to pay 90% of its cost and the patient only 10% of its cost.

“Lawmakers must work, within Constitutional bounds, to achieve a legal system that is not unnecessarily punitive and is fair, predictable, and just to all parties.”

Awards are income and excessive amounts can be taxed away. If Mr. Plaintiff faces a 100% tax on the excessive amount and would have to pay 40% to Mr. Lawyer, they would typically ask the judge to reduce the award. It is only a matter of adjusting 26 USC.

“It’s not going to be easy this time around for Trump. ”

People say this and others agree. It’s what the leftists do. They mob.

Someone says “It’s just not necessarily true. It might be a cake-walk” and the mob turns ugly.

Why?

Here’s one view- Trump was the kid who, when other kids were pushing each other around verbally and physically, would speak out immediately. Sometimes he was wrong most times right, he wasn’t a lawyer, he didn’t care, as long as he and his siblings could get back on the bus in peace to get on with their day, studying, making friends

People respected him. His reputation kept people from bullying him. He was not a bully. He was a successful student and athlete with things to do, with busy and like minded siblings, friends.

He was always ready to say something to anyone who, out of jealousy, malice, pride, tried to prevent him from moving forward.

The bullies resented him but they stopped. Others talked bad about him out of resentment and humiliation, but they respected him. His friends and other busy students liked him, got along with him.

People got away with spreading lies that he was bad, obnoxious, pushy, stupid, crass. They had something to hide, they felt inferior. He’d blow their cover. But he was just busy. He wasn’t looking for trouble. If tgey bothered him, he’d size them up and confront them without hesitation

It always worked for him. It was just the way he formed himself, how he was successful. He moved on to success later with this ethic. He was polite to otters who were making their world a better place.

The country devolved into corruption much as a result of people politely allowing it. It needed someone who was successful, smart and honest, who would push back.

As the the bullies, the corrupt people in charge of this mess, resisted, the polite people mobbed up to take sides against Trump. It turned out he polite people were polite out of wimpiness, not gentility. They refused to take blame for the mess they allowed. They liked Trump as long as he would get rid of the millions of bullies who had taken over corporations, the banks, government, schools, entertainment, culture, the judicial system and tge military. Even the White House. They were not going to fight. Trump would take them on while tge polite people allowed others to oppose Trump. They joined in.

Getting the country back was going to take effort. They misread the situation. They thought it was like watching TV. They’re the kids on the bus who’ll let Trump try to fix any oppression and if he and his friends get pummeled, they’ll look the other way, they’re not going to be inconvenienced. The oppression gets worse, the bullies get stronger, and the polite people- the wimpy people, join up against Trump

Some sleazy sports star from another neighborhood comes along with promises that he’ll fix things and he’ll be nice about it, so the polite people, the wimpy mob, love him. They don’t know him, but they can see how he could fix everything and be polite about it.

It’s never going to be 2015-16 again. Not going to be 2020

Even then, when the country needed Trump, he won by a landslide, more so the second time.

The wimpy mob loves to hate him but they don’t like corruption. They’ll pretend it can be gotten rid of politely for a while longer,

When Republican groups are unfair to Trump it works for him... if they’re too stupid to understand that dynamic they deserve to lose.
