The only reason Democraps want to overturn Citizens United is that Republicans have lots of rich, wealthy people to help them win elections.

Before Citizens United, only Democraps had wealthy dark money pouring into their evil coffers...they want to go BACK to that way of life.

They KNOW they can’t keep cheating on election day...sooner or later someone is going to actually give a damn and get the proof!!

Hilarious! Unions appear to exempt from this amendment.

Does anyone else besides me, each time they read another story like this, think to themselves, “just shoot the bastards!”

I’d hate to be the only “that guy.”

"would also allow states to set up public campaign financing systems that could restrict the influence of private wealth."

Unless, of course, it's really REALLY BIG wealth. Like Soros, and his pals..

A constitutional amendment? Seriously???

How many states do they need for approval, and why in HELL would the Red States (Republicans) vote for something that only the Blue states (democrats) want?

The numbers are not in their favor.

Like all proposed Amendments, it ‘only’ takes 2/3rds of each house and 3/4ths of state legislatures to become part of the Constitution. Don’t think the dems have those kinds of votes to get it out of Congress. So it’s just virtue signaling.

Constitutional Amendments are a great way to keep people with stupid ideas busy for a couple of decades with no results to show for it. Well, other than fundraising off even bigger idiots.

The process to amend the Constitution is intentionally very complex and difficult to complete. We're currently in something like year 50 of the Equal Rights Amendment process.

"Democrats introduce constitutional amendment to reverse Citizens United campaign finance ruling"

The country needs to go back to the original method of paying to run the federal government which was having rich people uniquely support it.

More specifically, consider that Thomas Jefferson had noted that the rich alone paid taxes (tariffs) to run the federal government.

The rich alone use imported articles, and on these alone the whole taxes of the General Government are levied [emphasis added]. … Our revenues liberated by the discharge of the public debt, and its surplus applied to canals, roads, schools, etc., the farmer will see his government supported, his children educated, and the face of his country made a paradise by the contributions of the rich alone, without his being called on to spend a cent from his earnings.” —Thomas Jefferson to Thaddeus Kosciusko, 1811.

Rich taxpayers would appropriately have the job of policing the feds for constitutionally justifiable federal spending.

In the meanwhile, the MAGA-controlled House desperately needs to introduce a resolution for Congress to propose an amendment to the Constitution to the states that is limited strictly to repealing the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th Amendments (popular voting for federal senators) (16&17A), little or ideally no discussion required for such an amendment imo.

Repealing 16&17A would effectively "secede" ALL the states from the unconstitutionally big federal government imo.

Although such a resolution is doomed with gridlocked Congress (where are the states?), what patriots initially get out of a repeal 16&17A resolution is seeing more masks fall off remaining RINO lawmakers who vote against resolution that patriots can primary in 2024.

So the Government would fund all acceptable candidates with criteria determined by the law, which is written by politicians who have a vested interest in making that criteria one sided...... therefore all Government employees, legislators, judges, law enforcement personnel would be of the same mind set. No one could challenge such a law because the Judges would have been determine to have this one mind set as the criteria for office by the law. No bias there! MMMM, what could go wrong?

The Constitutional Amendment I want to see is to outlaw all out of state campaign donations, except for President and Vice President. Corporations would only be able to donate in the state where their headquarters is based. Unions would only be able to donate in the state where the member dues were paid.

In a representative government, outsiders should not be able to influence other state elections.
