He’s doing good so far. I still don’t trust him but am willing to give some credit where it’s due.

Now mandate that everybody must be present and awake for a complete and total reading of any bill they intend to vote on

And 2 new rules fro Speaker McCarthy:

Bills must be single issue....no amendments...or add on

Bills must be available for members for 72 hours before voting.

They should be in their congressional district listening to their constituents, not the D.C. lobbyists.

Its amazing what just 20 conservatives who got elected to the House and who negotiated for what they wanted can accomplish.

I hope Republicans didn’t start the now-ended (I hope) practice of absentee voting.

I might also add...

... all legislators must offer explanations of what happened in the 2020 elections between 11 and 3 where every single vote came in as a vote for Biden.

I’m respecting him so far. Maybe Trump actually has one good pick out of the bunch.

Matt Gaetz is holding Kevin McCarthy accountable.

True, but McCarthy as speaker could say screw you and the deal we made.

I hope they can make an exception for someone in a hospital bed. Hope he recovers soon.

“I’m respecting him so far. Maybe Trump actually has one good pick out of the bunch.”

I will withhold judgement until I see how much control he gives Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan.

Seb Gorka made the comment today that he ‘heard’ that McCarthy was going to require all judiciary subpoenas go through him for initial approval.

If true, McCarthy’s first vote of no confidence needs to occur.

Going through him for approval or awareness to me is the key. I understand him wanting to know who and why. But if he can veto what they want to do and does that...then yes no confidence vote asap.

Whoa! It took 20 good men to create a come-to-Jesus event for him. Once again, I’m pleasantly surprised at KM’s newfound testosterone.

This ain’t Kevin. This is those that forced him to agree to all the “concessions” for scumbag to get to pretend to be important.

This is Kevin as a muppet for the good guys now, instead of the meat sleeve for the dems as he’s naturally inclined to be.

In his last years Congressman John Dingle used to have a young aide move his wheelchair into position and put his hands on Dingle’s drooping head to help him hold his head up to look at the voting going on and to help him signify aye or nay.

He retired at age 88 after serving 59 years -—record for the longest in US history. He died at age 92.
By the time Dingell retired on January 3, 2015, he had served 21,571 days in Congress, all of it in the House of Representatives. He had served with 2,453 different U.S. Representatives in his career. And 11 Presidents starting with Dwight Eisenhower.
He took over for his father who held the seat for 22 years.

An avid sportsman and hunter, he strongly opposed gun control, and was a former board member of the National Rifle Association. For many years, Dingell received an A+ rating from the NRA. Dingell helped make firearms exempt from the 1972 Consumer Product Safety Act so that the Consumer Product Safety Commission had no authority to recall defective guns. Dingell’s wife, Representative Debbie Dingell, introduced legislation in 2018 to remove this exemption from the law.

Good for Kevin. This might get the American People’s opinion of Congress UP a half point. Say from 7 to 7.5%.

McCarthy loves to stand firm about stuff that does not matter one bit. Gaetz was among many Republicans who did proxy voting. Who cares where the person is as long as they’re having a friendly member cast the vote? This is a waste of time to be concerned about.

Kevin is going to fold like a cheap suit on things that matter a lot more like the budget or immigration.

“everybody must be present and awake for a complete and total reading of any bill they intend to vote on”

I agree.. and further, require the bill’s sponsor(s) to explain - in detail - the Constitutional provisions that necessitate such legislation.
