First off, you have to recognize the strategic importance of bluffs as a deterrent and not let it get over-blown.
On the other hand, this is a very incendiary and provocative ‘bluff’. If they ended up doing something like that, in the end, it makes you wonder if we shouldn’t have just let Japan conquer China in the 1930s instead of putting those embargos on them forcing them to expand their war.
