An Idaho judge issued a GAG ORDER Tuesday blocking investigators and attorneys on both sides from discussing the murder case against Bryan Kohberger, the Pennsylvania man accused of killing four college students in November.
On January 3, Latah County Magistrate Judge Megan Marshall issued a nondissemination order in regard to the murder case against Bryan Kohberger," Moscow police said.
"The order PROHIBITS any COMMUNICATION by investigators, law enforcement personnel, attorneys, and agents of the prosecuting attorney or defense attorney concerning this case."
The department said it would "no longer be communicating with the public or the media" regarding the high-profile murder.
“Marshall's order prohibits the discussion of topics including evidence in the case, a potential confession, the possibility of a plea deal, opinions regarding the merits of the case or the defense, and the "character, credibility or criminal record of a party."
Pennsylvania police and the FBI arrested Kohberger in a gated Poconos community in Albrightsville on Dec 30.
He had driven there in the suspect vehicle with his father from Pullman, Washington in mid-December.
They were stopped twice in Indiana, once for allegedly speeding and another for tailgating, but they were not cited.
Moscow police at the time had not released the license plate of the white Hyundai Elantra they were looking for.
They were asking for help tracking down a 2011 to 2013 model year vehicle. Kohberger was driving a 2015.
Kohberger was a Ph.D student at the Washington State University's Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology.
Last year, he obtained a master's degree in criminal justice from DeSales University, studying under an expert criminal psychologist.
At a court hearing on Tuesday, Kohberger waived extradition and will be brought back to Idaho, to face murder charges for the deaths of Goncalves, Chapin, Kernodle and Mogen.

The article does not say who requested the gag order, or the judge’s reasoning for issuing it.
“An Idaho judge issued a GAG ORDER Tuesday”
It’s for the best
“the possibility of a plea deal”
just the thought of that should raise the roof right off Idaho =no way, no how
RE: gag order - so does that mean the documents we’ve been told would be released once he is in the Idaho court will not now be released?
“So, you guys are using 23 and Me to find criminals now?”
“SHUT UP!”
such as probable cause affidavit?
And there it is. Another deep state shell company. "Hey, it's a private company, they can sell their data to whomever the alphabet agencies demand."
How are these ‘gag order’s constitutional?
I can see where some case might require things to be undisclosed in public (example: national security issues), but what on earth would a murder case require this for?
Gag orders guarantee that the information will be shouted out with a megaphone, or just made up and shouted out. Gag orders are the current corrupt media’s best friend because they don’t have to report real stuff - just make it up and report it from a “person with knowledge of the case”.
I agree with you, but I don’t think judges just jump in without request. Maybe Idaho law appoints judges to supervise murder cases.
A plea deal would be whether he gets the death penalty or spends his entire life in prison. Idaho hasn’t executed anyone since 2012
“so does that mean the documents we’ve been told would be released once he is in the Idaho court will not now be released?”

Apparently
We knew this was coming. You won’t hear anything until trial except for an occasional strategic leak benefiting whoever leaked it. The rest of the talk will just be rumor.
I don’t think so. Gedmatch is public. They may have uploaded data there.
Well we all know the guy’s politics now. I am sure all his social media has been scrubbed and is being recreated to match the narrative of the day.
Public records can be released. Comments are prohibited. So the affidavit is fair game.
