STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The man charged with killing four Idaho college students will have his extradition hearing in a Monroe County courtroom Tuesday.
That's the first step in getting more answers, since the affidavit detailing what led law enforcement to Bryan Kohberger is sealed until he's back in Idaho.
He was arrested Friday in the Poconos and has connections to the Lehigh Valley, too.
Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., Kohberger is scheduled to be inside the Monroe County Courthouse in Stroudsburg.
His attorney Jason LaBar says he plans on waiving his extradition hearing to speed up the process of getting him to Idaho, adding Kohberger is eager to be exonerated.
Steve Goncalves, the father of victim Kaylee Goncalves, says these latest developments have given them a little hope and that things are moving in the right direction.
"We're going to definitely look at this guy, look him in his eyes," said Steve Goncalves. "He's going to have to deal with this. He has been dealing with this for seven weeks. It's not about to end."
People who knew him, from the Poconos to the Lehigh Valley to the Pacific Northwest, are still in shock:
"Totally jarring, totally shocking to realize that this person had been grading my papers," said Hayden Stinchfield, a Washington student who says Kohberger was his teacher's assistant in criminology class.
Stinchfield said many noticed Kohberger went from a stringent grader to an easy one over the last month.

And Idaho DOES have the death penalty
I haven’t followed very closely, but it seems odd for a PA guy who goes to school in Washington to stalk girls in Idaho, right?
I also don’t expect to understand what he was thinking, as I have stalked and murdered zero people.
I know his DNA was found at the scene, I’m just trying to understand what was occurring.
I saw this online:
Since 1976, there have been only 3 death penalty execuctions in 1994, 2011, and 2012. In total there have been 29 executions in Idaho since 1864, with 8 inmates currently on death row.
I’ve followed this case closely, and I’m convinced law enforcement has the evidence they need. If he’s found guilty, Idaho should make him pay the ultimate price for his deeds.
His school in Washington and they victims' school in Idaho are just across the state line from one another, about 10 miles or less.
His college was only 9 miles from the girls’ college.
Off Topic:
Your posting name grabbed my attention.
I’m guessing you got it from the
Patricia Cornwell Medical Examiner series. Excellent novels! They got me reading books again. I’ve read about 13. We just passed the Christmas Season: Patrica’s favourite setting for a story.

I’m following it closely too. I live in PA, not far from the colleges he went to here. Hopefully we get to see some of that evidence soon.
Exactly right!
” . . . who goes to school in Washington to stalk girls in Idaho, right?”
If you’re saying he went across the country to stalk women, you’re making an assumption - lots of people go to college or grad school far from home just because they’ve found a school or program that interests them. The guy has probably been a dirt ball for a long time, but sadly it was something that happened in Idaho that set him off. We may find out what it was at trial, or we may never find out. And I guess he could even be innocent, but that would be the last option I’d ever bet on.
Yes, This trial will cost a fortune and the defense will probably try to delay it.
Why should we on Free Republic actually give a damn? Does he matter in the overall scheme of things?
No, he is but a distraction writ too large
Thanks.

It’s up to you to follow this story or not. I’m interested. My daughters went to the same college he did in Pennsylvania. There are criminologists wondering about his background here.
I doubt there’s any single news item that is relevant to every FReeper.
This guy also was reported by female workers at a bar in Bethlehem, PA & the owner had to talk to him. (Near Lehigh University & DeSales College)
I have heard there is less than 10 miles apart where he lived in Washington and where these victims lived in Moscow, Idaho. It isn’t all that odd when you know that fact.
