$5000.00 is not cheap to get rid of someone. This is NYC, brother! I know a guy who had squatters that the city dragged out in court for THREE YEARS. The lost rent and damages were over $110k.

If you’re not paying enough attention to it for squatters to move in and get entrenched that’s really on you.
Not paying attention enough for squatters to move in? Squatters move into occupied, non-rental homes while the owners leave for the weekend.

Again, how are you supposed to get in to do repairs when you have illegal squatters that snuck in during the night and clipped all the alarm systems? The city protects them and you can’t evict them especially during moratoriums.
I don’t have property in NYC itself but am on forums where people do. I only have rental property in upstate NY. If these insane anti private property laws get passed in CA and NY they tend to spread elsewhere.
