When I left the military in 1995 I went to work for Walmart. When we got past the calendar year in ‘95, we had our once a week morning store meeting and we were informed that we were the cause of the failure of sales during the year. We didn’t do our job well enough and we had better get on the sick or we would be taken off the schedule.

In that year company sales climbed 22 percent to $82.5 billion from $67.3 billion. The fourth quarter was particularly noteworthy since it marked the first time a retailer had earned $1 billion in a three-month reporting period, as well as the 96th consecutive quarter of improved profits since the company went public in 1970.

As for our competitors, without two of the three closest major competitors in the mix, it would have taken 3 companies plus to get close to Walmart’s 1995 sales.

Home Depot was on the list of sales competitors but was not one of the top three. This is one of the reasons that trying to get major companies to actually pay for a qualified sales force and just establish stockers and then complain they are the problem with sales, does shine a light on the lack of intelligence with the billionaires that used those stockers to get them their big bucks while they blamed them for not being contributory to handing the rich their lifestyle. I see it here again. Rich people don’t want money, they want more money.

And this billionaire clown wants to know why People arent motivated.

A $40 minimum wage should take care of that problem......

You're either industrious and motivated or you're not, wage has nothing to do with it.

Greedy employers do that with everyone...Keep threatening them to work harder for less or else, while blaming them for everything.

Illegals entering the U.S., get a 500% pay increase...

Tell American workers they’re getting a 500% pay increase starting immediately and watch their work ethic change dramatically.

“$15 hour wages are $hit wages.”

Very true. I was making $12 changing tires during my first job in college for $12 in the 80’s. Add to that commissions on sales of batteries, tire chains, and tips for installing windshield wipers and the like. easily brought me to at least 15 an hour. When I became a certified welder and welded at nights I made the same hourly paid in 1980s and 1990s dollars as they are advertising in 2022 dollars in the region.

You sound like what we need a lot more of - someone with pride and a work ethic and those traits are being targeted and destroyed to corrode the base of western civilization.

“Tell American workers they’re getting a 500% pay increase starting immediately and watch their work ethic change dramatically.”

They essentially are being paid DOUBLE what they were a few years ago, at least at the bottom end. Don’t see crap of a work ethic yet.

About three years ago I started hearing complaints about management from Home Depot employees at more than one location. I didn’t hear complaints from employees at Lowes. The lumber at Lowes is better, too.

The others are too busy with the bong....

You make an interesting point.

What recently legalized personal activity makes one lazy, fat, and stupid?

Same here. But I’m going out on a limb that the buyers are not using EBT cards as much as buyers at Walmart.

So if employers offered their employees an immediate 500% raise like illegals get as soon as the enter, there would be no increases in productivity?

Right Bob...Sure.

Yes. We’ve had excellent Mexican workers on construction jobs. They were better than their bosses.

I read comments posted to this story online and there seemed to be a general consensus that this company didn’t pay well. Sounds like this 1%er is pissed that he can’t force workers into his substandard wage jobs.

I bought a cheapo Vissano refrigerator at HD 30 days ago. https://foodandfizz.com/who-makes-the-vissani-refrigerator/

The workers at HD hefted this onto the pickup truck
