What concerns me is that the weather was so screwed up...People were hungry, looting, etc. In New England, settlers moved East due to conditions and that is why in next 2 years OH and IL gained statehood.
When my daughter was in 3rd grade years ago, she brought home a book on how settlers were affected, the Frozen summer...Had never heard of Temporo before that. However, it has stuck in my mind since. No idea how many died...Some estimates are 100,000 directly and indirectly, but YouTube has had many vids on the subject, and it was not pretty.
