Yes t is true. I live here and it was pretty frightening to hear. We tried to snow blow our driveway when it finally ended but it’s heavy snow and ice. We gave up. Being older we couldn’t risk something happening knowing help could not get to us.
Roads are now buried parking lots. Driving ban extended for tomorrow. Daughter (nurse) went in Friday am and hasn’t been home since.
The crime is sickening. Police trying to check cars for trapped people and calls coming in left and right over looting and possibly some arson too.
I wonder if any of the trapped people were in electric vehicles?
I read a article saying some substations were buried by 8+ ft high drifts, but also so covered by ice they can’t even make repairs until they get the snow and ice clear.

The warnings from authorities should be that if one ventures out in such weather, have your own agreed upon back up person for rescue. Otherwise, one should be on their own.
