Retired U.S. General Mark Hertling dismissed Russia's offer to negotiate over the war in Ukraine, even after Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed readiness to discuss solutions. "On Christmas Eve Putin says he's 'ready to negotiate.' Having 'negotiated' w/ Russian military & Defense Ministry I learned lessons: Even in small things, RU officials don't negotiate...they demand, then they lie, and then they renege on agreements," Hertling tweeted Sunday.

Very true, as proven by the fact that France and Germany WOULD NOT implement Minsk 2, and then with Merkel recently saying that Minsk 2 was NEVER intended to be implemented by the West.
So why should Putin trust anyone in the West again?
Their national pride is not based on good deeds. It’s based invading and conquering other countries. Their nationalism is based on a belief that they are inherently superior from birth rather than efforts to make things better for all.

It was several years ago that Rosneft and GAZPROM sat down and briefed Putin on the fundamental reality of the world. That being, oil and gas are everything and most other things are insignifican’t in comparison to that.
Russia’s geographical surface area GUARANTEES their oil and gas will run out last.
Simply that. They will outlast everyone. Go have a look at global gas reserves to understand this.
No, it has nothing to do with Biden policies that might slow US oil and gas output. It is geography and geology, and geology doesn’t care about policies or politics.
Russia is destined for dominance and there is almost nothing anyone can do about it. There is only one tiny sliver of a chance to stop it — and it will never happen.
The US will have to publicly acknowledge the geography advantage just pointed out and overtly say we must invade and steal those resources or we will be forever enslaved.
There is no administration loaded with Greens who could accept such an announcement and mobilization. They would reject the premise.
And so, Russia is destined for dominance. Best get used to it.
