It was $100. Yes,if it was something serious lying wouldn't have been a good idea and very probably wouldn't have worked.

Although it's stupid to do so I routinely jaywalk which,of course,is a "violation" which might include a $25 fine. If I was ever stopped for jaywalking I just might lie to the cop.

Just sayin'...

Jaywalking is "victimless."

Fining someone for catcalling is a slippery slope. Is the catcaller stationary or is he following his target? Is the speech legally threatening or just comments about her physical appearance? Is he actually propositioning her for sex (as the original law states)?

Being rude isn't against the law in the US. It is increasingly illegal in Europe. I'm not a fan of these laws as they as currently being enforced.
