A Michigan man was shot during a botched carjacking, authorities said. Damon Lamar Currie, 27, was shot by the driver of a Dodge Charger Hellcat who fought back when Currie and at least one other person allegedly tried to carjack him last Tuesday morning in Eastpointe, about 14 miles from Detroit, according to the Eastpointe Police and Fire Department.

Not quite as bad as “Carjacking gone bad”, though pretty close. They always like to add weasel word qualifiers and euphemisms. “Would be” and “attempted” are favorites.

Huh? Eastpointe and Detroit are next to each other. The common border is 8 Mile Road.

I think of “botched” as a poor paint job due to error or incompetence, not a failed crime.
When I was a kid, Eastpointe changed their name from East Detroit. They didn’t want to be associated with Detroit.
Guess it didn’t work.
Just shows how racist this country is. I have never read a story of a white guy getting shot during a car jacking. For that matter I can’t even ever remember a story about one even being arrested for it
