Wait: Melissa was "transgender?!"
Regards,
I don’t know if Melissa was transgender, but my point is that there’s an epidemic of kids going through normal growing pains that our society is trying to fix either through antidepressants, anti anxiety meds, ADHD meds, cross hormone treatment, and sometimes radical surgery. None of these are fixes, but for the kids who think changing their “gender” will make them happy, I think it’s non-sensical, because we can’t change our DNA.
Going though puberty is a trying time. Lord knows, I’d never wish to be a teenager again. It IS a rite of passage though, and we can’t become adults until we go through our childhood, pre-teen, and teen years. They are all important periods in our lives.
Also, transgender kids are often said to be those who aren’t popular, and they think that by changing their gender, they suddenly become more accepted. Being popular won’t necessarily make you happy, though for a time, it might ease the sting of the teen years.
