On Friday (after my nephew's graduation from Miami Police Academy) we were at the Mall of the Americas to celebrate at The Knife Argentine buffet restaurant. Anyway, while walking in from the parking lot I saw three EV charging stations and I asked the woman charging her car how long it takes. She told me it takes 27 minutes to charge her car battery just 80%. Way too long. I have better things to do with my life than hanging out for long periods at EV charging stations on a regular basis.

10-15 minutes for me with a 350kW fast supercharger to get to 80% even from 5%. To be fair, that gets only 200-ish miles when driving highway speeds. Thus I'd rather take my ICE pickup on the few times I go on a road trip by myself.
But since my wife is usually with me, and since she likes to stop every 2 to 3 hours to walk around anyway, our EV is good for most trips for us.

The intire electric car thing is over-sold.
I’m in the market for a new pickup.
Gasoline please. There’s a fill on every corner.

EVs are getting better and better, but they're not quite there yet for me to consider one as my only car.
I could see an EV as a second around town commuter car, drive it locally during the day, charge it overnight in the garage.
They'd have to fix that "spontaneous combustion" feature, first, though.

Just a thought . . . How many carjackings are EVs?
Don’t recall any. Seems tempting to hang out around the charging station and get one when the owner comes back.
Now, will a quick text to Tesla get it shut off!?

Maybe somebody could put vending machines by the charging station and make some money. Might as well have a snack or a soda while you wait.

Between the Green New Deal and the Great Reset we are doomed, and I am not too sure that that’s not the whole idea. And it’s all about transferring power on a massive scale and we are approaching the point of no return.

I’m surprised that the charging stations don’t have monitors running MSNBC programs. That way you can get indoctrinated while you wait.

LOL! She was charging while shopping. You, OTOH, had to make an extra stop to gas up.

What was your motivation for buying an electric vehicle in the first place?
To: Leaning Right
Great idea. They could show commercials featuring drag queens praising the EV owners for saving the planet.

With an EV you can charge at home or for free at your MIL’s house!

Who would stop for a 5-minute refill, when they can go shopping for 27 minutes instead while it charges?
< /sarc>
Oh, wait, I forgot -- it IS a chick car.

Charge at night while sleeping and most will never have to “stop to charge”.
Assuming one stop per week at a gas station that is a net savings of 40 days over a lifetime.

A little pricy for me! Quarter mile in 9.6, top speed about 180.
For $200k, quarter mile 8.2, top speed 250+
