Qatari Official Puts World Cup Deaths 'Between 400 and 500'

A Qatari official involved in the organisation of the country's World Cup has put the number of worker deaths related to the tournament "between 400 and 500" for the first time, a number drastically higher than any other previously offered by Doha.

The comment by Hassan Al-Thawadi, the secretary general of Qatar's Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, appeared to be an off-the-cuff remark during an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan.

The comment threatened to renew criticism by human rights groups over the toll of hosting the Middle East's first World Cup given the migrant workers who built more than $200 billion worth of stadiums, metro lines and infrastructure needed for the tournament.

Wait! Four or five hundred people have died at or because of the soccer matches in the country? Seriously? Why no big headlines about this? Are they throwing homosexuals off the rooftops or something? Are people dying from alcohol widthdrawl? Are they abusing workers that severely? Who is doing the abusing?

No tourists and soccer fans. Migrants workers. I think 85% of Qatar’s population is migrant workers.

The way I read that was referencing those deaths that occured during the building of the facilities, not during the matches.

Basically, slavery was only outlawed in the region in the 1960’s. They still have a contempt for safety, and labor law in the region. This was just shameful that they let them have the World Cup. It speaks volumes about the Globalists and their values.

The Qataris don’t give a damn about 400 - 500 Sri Lankans or Bangladeshis. That is just a fact.

Maybe they are hoping that 400-500 sounds and looks better than 5,000-6,000.

yup, like working 10-12 hour days in the hot MidEast sun, with the employer giving you almost no water or breaks

a lot of the workers signed up in their home countries, not knowing what to expect ... they get there basically as indentured slaves with no rights

just brutal

This was just shameful that they let them have the World Cup.

Qatar just went and bought FIFA and the World Cup. The only entity as corrupt as FIFA is the IOC.

They still practice slavery. Wage slavery, working conditions slavery...

About the only thing they gave up was tying those couldn’t keep up to trees and letting the hyenas have them.

That’s an interesting question. I don’t know what vaccination policy wasn’t Qatar. They don’t care much for these workers so if they thought the vaccine was helping them they weren’t just going to give it to them unless it was about protecting the people who actually do matter. The thing is I think the number of deaths isn’t out of line for what’s normal in this country. They just don’t value the lives of Migrant workers very much.
