Brazil had a similar situation in 1964. A communist was elected. The people protested for days and the military took over. The military ceded power back in the 1980's and there have been democratic elections since then.
During the period of the soft military dictatorship Brazil's economy soared and the middle class grew in size. Times were good.
Fast forward to now. The leftists messed with the electronic voting machines and got their puppet, Lula, elected. The people are back in the streets just like in 1964.
