it should be clear to any American that Elon was not applying the principle of "freedom of speech," at least not as it is understood in the United States Constitution, and as we Americans have known it for centuries. If he were, the question regarding the weight of public support for Trump's voice would be irrelevant. The writer is right about this.
Someone suggested that Elon used the poll to identify and remove bots from the platform, and that may be.

I am unimpressed by this article. It’s obvious that Elon was having a little fun with reinstating President Trump. Pretending to take clear humor and hyperbole literally is a trick the Left has employed against Trump from the beginning and still does.
